As of May 2012, I'm making the move to SquareSpace! So please pardon the decay during the move. I've had a number of projects that I've wanted to display in this portfolio (such as my thesis or my globally lauded, Staples Eco Easy Button) that are just too media rich and extensive for a place like Cargo. Don't get me wrong, this place and its community are great, I think my needs have just outgrown Cargo.

I really want to focus on good readability of my blog as well, and using tumblr has been a bit of a mess. I'm just tired of messing around with themes and tumblr's downtime. I'm far more versed in html and css these days and want the flexibility to design everything myself, so It's clear that Squarespace has all my solutions in spades.

I'm shooting for a relaunch of "brandonleedy.com" at Midnight on June 18th (my 24th birthday!). So keep a weather eye on my twitter feed, as I'll surely post previews and announce when the switch happens!

The "Prow" is seating designed for use in the outdoors. Inspired by classical ship construction, Prow provides an ergonomic seating experience while displaying its sleek profile. It's sturdy, planted base prevents tipping or damage, even in the roughest pitch.

Details on the Prow are important, with hand-milled aluminum pins, hand-tapped grommets and actual sailing knots to secure the cushion. In addition, the Prow can take on all the threats of land and sea; due to its waterproof, fade-proof sealant and fabric.

From a set of three pieces I designed at Frontgate for the office environment. These include this Charging Station, a Laptop Stand, and a Desk Organizer. All three were released in October of 2010 and are available for purchase.

This laptop stand follows the style of the other two objects in the set, and tries to balance a classic look with modern technology. It was designed to fit a wide range of laptops, up to 17".

The challenge with this stand was to create an elegant mechanism to allow the stand to be adjustable, from elevated to completely flat. Using a brass plate and simple notches in the wood I was able to keep the mechanism simple, reliable, and elegant.

From a set of three pieces I designed at Frontgate for the office environment. These include this Charging Station, a Laptop Stand, and a Desk Organizer. All three were released in October of 2010 and are available for purchase.

This rolltop desk organizer focused on highlighting the ritual of hand-written correspondence as well as organizing stationery items in the office environment.

A unique challenge with this piece was the creation of the rolltop mechanism. The mechanism itself required a certain amount of space to be reserved while still allowing for the proper form and function of the piece. Original attempts of this concept were rather large for a desk environment. However, I was able to keep the size large enough to function, while being small enough to not dominate the office space.

This charging station utilized a new form of charging technology that provided surge protection and connections for multiple devices at once while keeping a small footprint.
